Support available for current students

Family Services offers a comprehensive support program to promote prevention and early intervention for mental health concerns. If you are struggling and need support, you can book a counselling appointment with a counsellor or access the 24/7 online wellness resources.

A range of confidential services is available to ensure timely support, including short-term counselling and online digital wellness tools and resources. Counselling is delivered by registered, master’s-level (or higher) mental health professionals and is offered in over 200 languages. These services and resources are available for all active AU students enrolled in AU courses as part of your wellness support program

24/7 online wellness tools and resources

Online wellness resources are available here. No login is required.

You will find a wide variety of online resources, such as:

  • anxiety
  • approaches to feeling better
  • body image and eating disorders
  • depression
  • healthy relationships
  • interpersonal trauma and violence
  • learning and attention difficulties
  • loneliness
  • low self-esteem
  • managing distressing emotions
  • sleep problems
  • stress
  • substance abuse and addictions
  • suicide prevention
  • trauma

Frequently asked questions

To request counselling services, please complete the Family Services Counselling Appointment Request Form.

You will need to include information such as:

  • name
  • student ID
  • email
  • phone number
  • date of birth

After you submit your request, you will receive an email with instructions to book your appointment.

Students can access several wellness services.

Services include:

  • counselling services
  • online wellness tools and resources

This service is available at no cost to all active AU students who are registered in at least one course.

Online resources are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Family Services Intake Specialists are available by submitting a service request.

When you access Family Services for a specific concern, you will be matched with a counsellor suited to your needs. Your counsellor will work with you to set a goal and provide focused, practical strategies to help you achieve it.

This short-term support typically consists of 1 to 3 sessions, each lasting 60 minutes. If longer-term or specialized support is needed, your counsellor will connect you with appropriate community-based resources and programs.

All interactions are confidential. AU will receive anonymized use data.
