Applying for student aid

Full-time funding approval is due 1 month in advance. When applying for funding, consult with your provincial funding agency, as those processing times may be longer. Apply for a start date that allows sufficient time to process your request.

Each province or territory has student funding agencies that provide students with financial assistance. Select from the provincial or territorial funding list below to learn more about government student loans programs applicable to you.

To determine which province to apply for funding, choose the last province you lived in for 12 consecutive months while not a full-time post-secondary student.

When do I have to apply for my student loan?

Funding approval is due at least 1 month before the start date with no holds or reviews. This is a requirement for all students seeking to attend AU as full-time funded students. Students not approved by the deadline for the desired start date will need to reapply.

You are required to submit a Student Financial Aid Course Registration Plan and apply for funding by the required date. See the start dates, application open dates and deadlines that correspond with your studies.
