As Associate Vice President Research, Dr. Andrew Perrin is committed to cultivating a thriving research community at AU that is bold in asking and answering the most pressing questions we face today.
Dr. Perrin is committed to enhancing AU’s profile as a comprehensive research university by cultivating AU’s existing and emerging research strengths, leveraging its identity as Canada’s only digital-first university, representing AU on external boards and in the community, and building faculty research capacity from discovery through dissemination. In these efforts, the AVPR will enable AU researchers to advance and extend AU’s Strategic Research Plan in alignment with the Imagine Plan. As part of his role in leading AU’s research community, Dr. Perrin is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Perrin’s research program about the life and literature of ancient Judaism has garnered more than $1 million in research revenue, resulted in 52 publications and 44 presentations in top-tier platforms, and open-access mobilization initiatives exceeding 120,000 impressions online.
Dr. Perrin is a former Canada Research Chair in Religious Identities of Ancient Judaism, a past fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Albright Institute for Archaeological Research, as well as a recipient of the David Noel Freedman Award for Excellence and Creativity in Hebrew Bible Scholarship, the Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise, and the Norman E. Wagner Award for Innovative Use of Technology in Research.
