Research Ethics Board
The Athabasca University Research Ethics Board is an independent decision-making board. It has been established to review all proposals for research involving:
- Living human participants (and their data)
- Human biological materials derived from living or deceased individuals where research is conducted:
- by members of the university community, or in collaboration with them
- using university resources (e.g., research space, material, equipment, human resources, research funds)
- at or under the auspices of the university by external researchers
Research Ethics Board reviews conform to the requirements of the federal Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2 (2018)) and related Athabasca University policy and procedures.
