Overview

LBST 411 offers advanced students an opportunity to pursue an extended research project under the direction of a professor. The course of study may involve field, survey, archival, or library research and normally results in the production of a major paper.

The first of these two special projects (see also LBST 412) helps students specify and clarify a research topic. Students will be expected to develop a comprehensive background knowledge in the topic of their choice.

With the course professor, students develop a study and/or research proposal indicating the goals of the study, procedure for evaluation, and the time to completion. A major discussion paper and comprehensive bibliography will be expected in partialfulfillment of the course requirements.

Evaluation

To receive credit for LBST 411, you must successfully complete the course assignment, and achieve a course composite grade of at least ā€œDā€ (50 percent) or better.
