Overview
HIST 491 offers an opportunity for students to pursue an extended research project under the direction of a professor. The course of study will normally include extensive library research and the production of a major paper.
Evaluation
With the course professor, students develop a study and/or research proposal indicating the goals of study, procedure for evaluation, and the time to completion. A major discussion paper and comprehensive bibliography will be expected in partial fulfillment of the course requirements. Students are required to achieve a minimum mark of 50 per cent on each of the assignments and to obtain a course composite grade of at least “D” (50 percent).
