Overview
This orientation is delivered in a blended format and includes both online participation and a mandatory multiday in-person orientation event.
EDDE 000: Orientation is designed to welcome students to the Doctor of Education—Distance Education (EdD) program and to help them develop confidence in studying at the doctoral level. The orientation includes social and interpersonal components of the cohort model that are used in delivery of the program and begins to address some of the program objectives. Preparation for the first assignment of the EDDE 801 course is also completed.
The in-person event will include the opportunity to meet faculty and staff. Students will benefit from an overview of AU services for graduate students, a land-based learning component, and instruction covering introductory concepts around the principles of practice in online education.
As the first course in the program, the orientation also has important social objectives that will carry through the rest of the program and enhance the success of the cohort model.
