Portfolio approaches

At AU, there are two different PLAR portfolio approaches, which are determined by your program.

Most PLAR portfolios are program-based except for BGS, Nursing, Psychology and Faculty of Business portfolios which are course-based. Your portfolio approach determines the learning outcomes to demonstrate competency in within the PLAR portfolio you develop.

Two portfolio approaches

Program-based portfolio approach

Program-based portfolios require a Learning Summary to explain and align knowledge and skills in your field specific to your program outcomes.

Course-based portfolio approach

For programs that require a course-based portfolio, you will choose specific AU courses that fit within your program that you feel you can demonstrate mastery in. Course-based portfolios require a Competency Worksheet to explain and align your knowledge and skills specific to the learning outcomes of the course(s) you are targeting.
