Credits for Red Seal Certification

Athabasca University is pleased to recognize completed Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Red Seal Certificates for transfer credit toward eligible undergraduate degree programs.

Eligible applicants may receive up to 30 credits, depending on their chosen degree program and applicable program regulations. We assess transfer credit on an individual basis in accordance with Athabasca University policies and approved transfer credit decisions.

Who is eligible?

This transfer credit recognition currently applies to applicants who have completed an Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Red Seal Certificate.

How to apply

When applying to Athabasca University:

  • Select Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) as your post-secondary institution.
  • After submitting your application, email a copy of your completed AIT Red Seal Certificate to enrol@athabascau.ca.
  • We will verify your credential as part of the transfer credit evaluation process.

For AIT Red Seal transfer credit, you do not need to submit apprenticeship transcripts from training providers such as NAIT, SAIT, Portage College, or other apprenticeship institutions. If you have completed additional post-secondary education you would like assessed for transfer credit, submit the required official transcripts for those studies.
