The Bachelor of Management at Athabasca University takes a strong international perspective on business. The program explores the ethical, global, political, and environmental issues that organizations face every day.
You will learn to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of an organization, and build your leadership skills. You’ll also get a broad base of management knowledge in

Other skills taught include problem-solving, decision-making, and monitoring and assessing organizational changes. You will also build sound structural and ethical foundations for management and commercial practices.

Routes and options
The Bachelor of Management is an online degree program with a 3-year option. If you have a related post-secondary diploma, you can take the shorter post-diploma route for either option. There are no set start dates – you can enrol at any time and register for courses right away.
3-year option
A 3-year degree is a well-respected and marketable credential in Canada and the United States.
Post-diploma route
There are 2 possible routes into the post-diploma options, with an additional option available for students who have completed a business diploma in Ontario. Faculty of Business diploma to degree routes.
Completion times
Finish this program in as little as 1 year (3-year post-diploma route) of full-time study. Or work at your own pace and take as long as you need. There is no time limit for completion.
Admission requirements
There are no formal admission requirements for the 3-year program. All you need is to be 16 or older. You can enrol anytime and start right away, regardless of your previous education.
Please note: If you have a degree in administration, business, commerce, or management, or a degree with a related major or concentration from AU or another university, you cannot apply to the Bachelor of Management program.
How to apply
You can apply to AU online, anytime. Once you’ve completed the online application form and paid the one-time general application fee (and transfer credit evaluation fee, if applicable), you’re officially an AU student and can start registering in courses.
Make sure we get your transcripts if you want us to consider your previous post-secondary education for transfer credit.
Transfer and advanced credit
Transfer credit will not be accepted if course(s) completed more than:
10 years ago in the business and administrative studies area of study at the senior (300/400) level;
5 years ago in CMIS (all levels);
10 years ago in statistics (all levels).
If you are currently working in the field and provide evidence of work being completed, this restriction may be waived. Transfer credit being used to satisfy options other than those in the business and administrative studies area will not be restricted.

To complete the program you will need to fulfill all the requirements of the Bachelor of Management.

Once you have paid the initial application fee, tuition is pay-as-you-go for each course registration. Course fees vary depending on your location and other factors.

This goal means the ability to produce quality written documents and give effective oral presentations—to analyze your audience and the communication situation, and create effective academic papers, business reports, infographics, or slide presentations that meet your needs and fulfill your goals as an effective communicator.

The goal is to enable you to identify relevant ethical issues in a given situation—what is at stake, and why your choices are important to business and society.

In today’s business environment, you need to be able to identify the opportunities and challenges of operating within complex local, regional, and global environments, which is the purpose of this goal.
PLG 5: Our 4-year business program graduates will be competent in discipline-specific skills and knowledge.
As a program graduate, you will be able to demonstrate the functional capability that is a foundation for a career in the field of Accounting, Business Technology Management, Finance, Human Resources Management or Marketing.
