Become a student
Becoming an Athabasca University student is easy – our open admission policy means if you’re 16 or older, you will be accepted as a student. Paying a one-time application fee lets you register for more than 750 courses, as long as you meet the prerequisites.
Tuition & fees
There is a one-time, non-refundable application fee to become an AU student. Once you are a student, you pay for courses as you go. Course fees include all textbooks and materials, and access to a tutor or success centre.
Both full- and part-time AU students can apply for financial aid, including loans, grants and bursaries. We can help you find ways to finance your education.
Transfer and advanced credit
Your previous education and experience count with us. We have diploma-to-degree programs and options for block transfer, individual course credit transfer, credit for prior learning, and challenge for credit.
