Student ID cards
This page outlines the process you need to follow to obtain a student ID card from Athabasca University. In order to request an Athabasca University student ID card (or a new date sticker), you must be currently registered in an AU course. You have 2 options in requesting a photo ID card:
- You can complete a Photo ID Request form and forward it to our office (via mail or email) accompanied by a passport-sized photo. In this case, you must ensure that a guarantor completes the appropriate portion of the form and also signs and dates the back of the photo.
- If you have access to a scanner or digital camera, you can email the completed photo ID request form to acrec@athabascau.ca. You must include a passport-sized photo and the front portion of your current driver's license. This provides us with a photo, name, date of birth, and current mailing address, which we use for verification purposes (so you don't need a guarantor to complete their portion of the Photo ID Request form.) Once the photo ID request form, the electronic photo and driver's licence have been received, we will verify your details and mail your photo ID card to you.
Photo ID cards are issued for the academic year (September 1 to August 31) in which they are processed. If you will be continuing your studies beyond this time frame, you will need to have your photo ID card updated in order for it to be recognized by external organizations. You can request an annual update sticker by emailing acrec@athabascau.ca.
We reserve the right to refuse unacceptable photos (ie: poor quality, facial distortions, etc). Students will be asked to resubmit an appropriate photo at their own expense.
