Athabasca campus a hub of activity as alumni and families gather for homecoming festivities

Graduates of Athabasca University’s (AU) Class of 2023 took in the beauty of campus and enjoyed games, live music, treats, and even some explosive fun at AU Homecoming.

More than 150 people attended the June 17 event in the town of Athabasca, which capped a fun 3 days of convocation weekend celebrations. Besides experiencing the campus’s beauty, attendees got to tour facilities such as the library, Bertha Clark-Jones O.C. Art Gallery, and science labs—the latter of which included fiery science demonstrations.

Homecoming also introduced grads to the sights, sounds, and tastes of the region as several local festivals and markets took place on the same day.

“Homecoming was a fantastic celebration and wonderful showcase of AU and the Athabasca region,” said Dr. Alex Clark, president. “It was gratifying to see so many smiling faces bring joy to our campus and help put the perfect bow on convocation weekend.”
