Mara Metz

Mara is a Student Support and Advising Specialist with the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), supporting both unclassified and program students. She works closely with a strong team of faculty, advisors, and campus collaborators, and serves as a liaison connecting students with academic staff.

Mara helps students navigate the many pathways of university life. Her work ensures students are connected to essential services while feeling supported, understood, and equipped to thrive during their university journey. She also supports undergraduate students, course administration, and aids in the revision of academic resources.

Her passion and commitment to student success began while teaching Conversational English in Japan during her undergraduate studies. Since then, she has continued to support learners through student advising and experiential learning initiatives.

Outside of the office, Mara enjoys trying new things in the kitchen and documenting the results online. She also cherishes time with family and hitting the trails with her SCARS rescue dog, Kona.
