Academic quality assurance
Quality assurance and program planning at Athabasca University sit within the portfolio of the Provost and Vice President, Academic. The Office of the Provost and Vice President, Academic coordinates key academic quality assurance activities at AU, providing resources, advice and guidance for:
- Cyclical program reviews
- Program learning outcomes assessment
- Accreditation
The Office of the Provost and Vice President, Academic, collaborates with multiple teams across the university to coordinate program quality. AU’s quality assurance efforts are designed to ensure that its programs are relevant and responsive to the needs of its communities.
Campus Alberta Quality Council quality assurance audit
AU aligns its quality assurance processes with the requirements outlined by the Alberta Ministry of Advanced Education and its arms-length Campus Alberta Quality Council (CAQC). AU holds CAQC audit status and participates in a CAQC Quality Assurance Process Audit of its program review and program development processes every 5-7 years.
