Convocation 2021: Another one for the books

For a second year in a row, Athabasca University’s virtual Convocation 2021 was an incredible, inspiring, and unique experience.

Congratulations are in order for the 1,532 Athabasca University learners who got their degree, diploma, or certificate at the virtual Convocation on June 11, and to all their friends and family who joined to support them.

The virtual convocation platform gave graduands the opportunity to be part of a truly unique event, including, for the first time ever, a live presentation of degrees. They had the opportunity to network with their professors and classmates, hear from some incredible new honorary doctorates and Governor General Academic Medal Winners and digitally transport into an alumni portal. Learners—or shall we say graduands— flipped their tassle from right to left, uploaded hundreds of celebratory images to the photo wall, and engaged on social media.

Entertainment during the day included a performance by Big Heads & Beats, Comedy group GreyDays and a performance by musical trio, The Tenors.

The entire AU community is so proud of the accomplishments of all our graduands, and are so thankful to everyone who celebrated with us.
