Important update for taking AU exams with ProctorU

By: AU Staff

Until further notice, Athabasca University students taking exams with ProctorU should use the Chrome or Firefox browsers

Athabasca University’s Invigilation Services team recommends students not use the ProctorU Guardian browser when taking online exams invigilated by ProctorU. Students should instead use Chrome or Firefox with the ProctorU extension to ensure the best possible experience.

In November, AU’s ProctorU invigilated examinations were migrated over to ProctorU’s secure Guardian browser. While most students have been able to complete their examinations successfully with the Guardian browser, there has been an increase in students encountering failed equipment tests and connectivity losses.

ProctorU has been made aware, and they have let us know that this is a known issue in a minority of ProctorU invigilated sessions (including with other institutions), and they are working toward resolving it.

All other requirements and recommendations for using ProctorU for online exams are unchanged.

Please contact Invigilation Services with questions or concerns.
