Services for alumni

AU alumni have access to a range of services through the library. This page describes the services that are available.

Definition of alumni

“Alumni” are those who have received degrees or diplomas from Athabasca University.

Database access

AU alumni will not have the same level of access as a registered student. Wherever possible we have tried to negotiate alumni access from our vendors. We are pleased to provide various databases for our alumni by choosing the "alumni" type filter on the Find databases page.

Tip: Need access to a database that is not on the list? Check your public library to see your access options through their electronic resources.

Physical book access

AU Library is unable to offer access to our print collection to alumni. We encourage you to visit your local public library to request physical books through the library branch and/or through its interlibrary loan desk.

Other access

AU alumni continue to have access to all the Get library support and AU Guides through this website.

In addition, AU alumni receive scanning services of any AU collection. Requests are subject to copyright restrictions. Included in this service is the use of AU’s Interlibrary loan (ILL) services for journal articles or book chapters. Email your requests directly to the ILL office. Please note: Our search for material is limited to North American locations and has a cost cap to which the requester will be notified.
