Assess your writing and language skills

Test your English language and writing skills with this free, interactive, assessment tool.

English Language Assessment (ELA)

NOTE: This is not the ELA required for incoming students in the Bachelor of Professional Arts (BPA) program. BPA students please access the BPA English Language Assessment.

This test was designed to assess prospective students’ and undergraduate students' readiness for Athabasca University writing courses. It may not be suitable for other assessment or language proficiency purposes. For questions or support, please contact the Write Site Coordinator at writesite@athabascau.ca.

This computer-marked test gives only an approximation of your abilities. You are not required to take the recommended courses.
