Michael Dabrowski is an educator specializing in Spanish language pedagogy, open education, and digital innovation in higher education. He serves as Academic Coordinator at Athabasca University, where he designs and teaches courses that integrate open educational resources (OER), intercultural learning, and emerging technologies. His work centers on making language education more accessible, collaborative, and socially responsive.
A strong advocate for open pedagogy, Michael has developed and co-authored open textbooks and digital learning materials that reduce financial barriers while fostering authentic, community-engaged learning. He explores the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in language education, emphasizing ethical implementation, formative assessment, and student agency. Through conference presentations and scholarly publications, he shares models of forward-looking curriculum design and digitally mediated collaboration in national and international contexts.
Beyond the university, Michael serves as Director of Education for the Calgary and District Beekeepers Association. His work in apicultural education connects pollinator health, citizen science, and experiential learning, reflecting a broader commitment to ecological stewardship and community engagement.
