Kathy Kimpton is a higher education leader, business educator, and organizational strategist with over two decades of experience spanning post-secondary administration, student services, enrollment management, and workforce development. An 'edupreneur' at heart, she brings an entrepreneurial and practitioner's lens to her teaching and scholarly work at Athabasca University, where she serves as Academic Coordinator in Strategic Management. Her teaching focus spans business administration, ethics, organizational behaviour, and strategic management.
Kathy's career spans roles at Lakehead University, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and Confederation College, where she built a reputation for transforming student services and driving enrollment growth. As Vice-President, Student & Support Services at Olds College, she introduced an innovative enterprise resource planning partnership model and a public-private approach to student housing. As President and CEO of Women Building Futures, she championed equity, workforce inclusion, and labour market policy at a provincial and national level where she contributed to initiatives such as Alberta 2030 and Bill 67 Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Act. Her public service extends to the federal level as a Member of the Employment Insurance Board of Appeal, where she adjudicates appeals with a commitment to procedural fairness and equitable outcomes. As a speaker and consultant, she has advised governments, industry associations, and post-secondary institutions across Canada and the United States on curriculum, policy, and workforce strategy.
