Precluded Course: FREN 200 cannot be taken for credit if credit has already been obtained for FREN 242.

Overview
FREN 200 trains the student in spoken and written French as a continuation of FREN 100 and FREN 101. The course enables students to use French in social situations and to talk about themselves, their opinions, and their experiences.
In addition, FREN 200 leads the student through a major review of grammar and develops the student's ability to understand and compose short passages.

Evaluation
To receive credit for FREN 200, you must complete and submit the five written exercises, the five oral exercises, the final oral examination and achieve a course composite grade of at least "D" (50 percent) and a grade of at least 50 percent on the written examination. The weighting of the course assignments is as follows:

Challenge for Credit Course Overview

Challenge Evaluation
To receive credit for the FREN 200 challenge registration, you must achieve a grade of at least "D" (50 percent) on the written examination. You must also demonstrate oral proficiency by reaching a satisfactory standard on the oral examination (telephone exam 15 minutes).
No grade is assigned for the oral exam. The grade for the written exam constitutes the grade for the challenge.
