As Canada's only digital learning university, created by Alberta innovators, Athabasca University’s classrooms, collaboration spaces, and student hubs are not bricks & mortar, but a Cloud & Code Campus. Our Information Technology team is helping to digitally transform Athabasca University to provide complete flexibility and accessibility to our online students in our province, across Canada and the world. We are creating a cloud-based digital learning environment that encourages learning for a lifetime. Our Cloud & Code Campus will provide a collaborative engagement space for students, professors and researchers to continuously innovate in digital pedagogy, applied augmented intelligence, and online learning experiences.

Our passionate and dedicated technical talent reside across western Canada; working from locations in Athabasca, north Edmonton on the St. Albert border, in the downtown Edmonton core, in Calgary and in British Columbia. Our team is led by Jennifer Schaeffer, who is in her first term as Vice President Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. Ms. Schaeffer reports to President Dr. Neil Fassina and is focused on delivering information technology and digital strategy excellence across the entire institution, in large part by leading the digital transformation implementation in support of AU’s strategic plan: Imagine: Transforming Lives, Transforming Communities.

Together we are working on creating the university of 2068 through our implementation of RISE: Athabasca University's Digital Transformation, Our 5 Year IT Strategy.
