Funding Opportunities
Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are driving growth in today’s economy, and governments are working to support innovation and growth in this sector. We have experience in applying for research grants – let us help you make the most of available funding opportunities.
How we can help
Industry contributions to a project (both cash and in-kind) can often be leveraged by applying to the right funding program. Athabasca University can guide or manage your grant writing and application process.
Funding opportunities are supported by a variety of federal and provincial initiatives including:
- Canadian Federal Tri-Agency Funding
- Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)
- Alberta Innovates
- Mitacs
Leveraging, stacking and qualifying criteria of industry contributions are subject to the regulations of each specific funding program.
Tax incentives
The federal government’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program encourages Canadian businesses to do research and development (R&D) in Canada.
In many cases, you can get SR&ED tax credits for research projects your company is involved in, further leveraging your R&D dollars.
