Overview
The Collective Care, Renewal and Resurgence for the Post-Pandemic World Research Team is seeking for a Research Assistant interested in providing input to, and learning from, a transnational and multidisciplinary research team conducting sociological research with social movements and precarious status migrants across Canada.
Job duties
The primary job duties (RA‐2, GRA‐1 or GRA‐2 position) will include conducting literature reviews; editing reports; transcribing interviews and assisting the coordination of knowledge mobilization events.
The research team works in four languages (English, French, Spanish and Portuguese), and the information gathered, transcribed, classified, and communicated is also multilingual. The candidate must have excellent writing and editing skills in English and have at least intermediate skills in French or Spanish. She/he/they must feel comfortable working in interdisciplinary and multicultural environments.
The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, the principal investigator, Dr. Eloy Rivas-Sánchez at Athabasca University. Dr. Rivas-Sánchez will provide adequate training when required.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate student (preferably at Athabasca University)
- Previous experience assisting research projects
- Detail-oriented, curious, and passionate about social research
- Some experience working with vulnerable populations
- Excellent writing and editing skills (English)
- Familiarity using NVivo (or other qualitative research program) and some experience conducting in-depth interviews are an asset
Engagement in this research project will provide the recruited student with valuable opportunities to learn how to produce, manage, analyze, and communicate research-gathered data. It will also help the student to develop skills in designing and managing research projects and developing an international research experience in multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts.

Hours per week are approximate and may vary based upon activity in the project. The hourly wage
for this position is $18.50 -$23.50 per hour.
