I am an Assistant Professor of Governance, Law, and Management with Athabasca University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. My research focuses on issues and concerns pertaining to gender and global governance, social movements and revolutions, and international peace and security. My first book, Iran’s Green Movement: Everyday Resistance, Political Contestation, and Social Mobilization, was published by Routledge in 2021. My second book, entitled Toward a Paradigm Shift in International Relations Studies: (Re)Claiming World Peace, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2025.
Other published works have appeared in Third World Quarterly, Legal Pluralism and Critical Social Analysis, the Journal of Human Trafficking, International Sociology, Jadaliyya, Against the Current, Sociology of Islam, Foucault Studies, and the Journal of International Women’s Studies.
I am currently working on a third book, entitled Toward a Paradigm Shift in International Relations Studies: An Alternative. Herein I map out the broad contours of a new international relations paradigm capable of supplanting the existing one by making peace a condition of possibility. Herein I show that, at this juncture in history, achieving a lasting, all-inclusive global peace lies within sight notwithstanding the current status quo in international affairs. However, what remains to be seen is whether such a peace can be attained through global deliberation or only upon suffering an unprecedented global calamity.
In addition, my passion for global peace has led me to create a YouTube channel, entitled Toward Peace, dedicated exclusively to peace studies. This channel analyzes the various prerequisites, i.e., theoretical, social, legal, political, gender, economic, religious, philosophical, psychological, that might aid us in envisioning and creating a more peaceful world. It also highlights the critical role youth and particularly women might play in establishing a new world order and by implication a longed for world peace.
