Research assistant - casual position

Responsible for more: Informal caregiving and parenting in a pandemic
Overview
This research assistant position is intended to support research into unpaid caregiving and parenting labour during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The project aims to identify the processes through which individuals became responsible for additional caregiving and childcare in Alberta and Nova Scotia.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting and supporting literature reviews
- Collaborating on qualitative data analysis news media articles and narrative interviews
- Writing (summaries of findings, policy briefs, manuscripts)
- Completing necessary training
- There may be opportunities to participate in research participant recruitment and qualitative interviewing
- Monthly meetings with the research team
The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, Dr. Terra Manca at Athabasca University. Dr. Manca will provide training and mentorship for all activities. The successful candidate will gain experience in many aspects of conducting qualitative research.
This is a casual position with flexible hours. The rate of pay will be commensurate with experience and collective agreement provisions. All duties can be completed remotely.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Strong writing skills
- Interest and/or experience in qualitative research
- Interest in the wellbeing of parents and caregivers and/or social equity
- Experience working with Microsoft Office
- Completion of TCPS 2.0 CORE module preferred
