Overview
This research project is intended to map changes in journalism training in response to the rise of user generated content (UGC) as an important element in professional news coverage, in an international comparative study of journalism schools in Canada, the UK, the US and France.
We are seeking a graduate student who can work well in a team and take a leadership role in developing a survey to circulate among journalism schools, liaising with j-schools to secure participation and response, gathering coallating and analyzing data results, collaborating with the principal investigators in writing up and presenting results at conferences and in publishable form.
The duration of this project will be about six months, at 15 hours per week depending on the amount of data available. The salary is according to Athabasca University wage scale for RAs. The work will begin April 2023.
Qualifications
Candidates must be currently engaged in graduate studies in Communication / media studies or journalism studies and have familiarity with communications studies and/or journalism studies research and literatures. Bilingualism in English and French is necessary, at the minimum being able to read French, since some of the data will be in that language.
