Unit 5

The examination of Hinduism in Unit 5 introduces you to a religion with many characteristics that set it apart from the three Western religions covered in Units 2 to 4. Although Judaism, Christianity, and Islam each offer their own perspective of sacred reality and religious life, they are united in their belief in a single, all-powerful God. The absence, in Hinduism, of a consistent emphasis on this central tenet of the Western faiths is the most obvious difference between these religions and Hinduism.
