This project will investigate the statistics of time from shareholder proposals to actions, if any, that had been proposed.
The primary job duties for the field research assistant Research Assistant 1 [AUPE, R-5] will include 1) tracing shareholder proposed actions taken by Canadian companies and as reported in annual reports and proxy circulars hosted at www.sedar.com over a ten-year time period, and 2) tallying and conducting descriptive analysis of the identified actions in 1).
The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, Dr. Eric Wang at Athabasca University. Dr. Wang will provide adequate training for the extraction of key words from shareholder proposals and tallying and descriptive analysis of data that will be required.
Qualifications:
A successful applicant should have the following skills:
- A good command of Excel worksheet and record keeping skill
- Effective and efficient in conducting key word searches within PDF documents hosted online
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting and its reporting Descriptive analysis of collective data
- Effective communications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce or management is preferred
- Applicants who aspire to develop their business research skills are encouraged to apply
The position is based in Edmonton, Alberta. Remote work is possible
