Manufacturing Management Certificate of Completion
The Manufacturing Management certificate of completion will no longer be awarded, effective May 1, 2024. If you plan to earn the certificate, all courses must be completed by this date. The Manufacturing Management certificate of completion is closed to new admissions as of April 6, 2023.
According to the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), the occupational segment among manufacturers with the largest expected growth-of-need over the next 5 years is not skilled production or technicians and engineers—it’s management.
To help address that need, Athabasca University (AU) has launched an online Manufacturing Management Certificate of Completion (MMC) in partnership with the CME and the Saskatchewan Manufacturing Centre of Excellence.
The MMC will help you cultivate business intelligence while maintaining resources focused on production. Courses on leadership, supply chain, safety management, financial decision-making, and quality management, among others, will help you discover new strategies for enhancing efficiency, stimulating productivity, and driving innovation.
Why the MMC?
It is common practice in manufacturing to promote production employees into supervisory or management positions. The online MMC prepares these employees for long-term success in management by providing immediately applicable knowledge and skills, as well as strong peer mentorship.
Our online format also means that courses can be completed anywhere at any time. There is no need to travel to a classroom.
What will you learn?
In the MMC you will interact virtually and share best practices with other professionals from a variety of manufacturing businesses. You will also:
- Learn new tools, techniques, theories, and concepts to lead your team, manage projects, and analyze budgets within your organization.
- Think strategically and make sound decisions based on a rooted understanding of business.
- Be better prepared for the challenges of management and promotional opportunities at your organization.
- Challenge your thinking and work through issues and opportunities facing the manufacturing sector.
Program structure
The Manufacturing Management Certificate of Completion is made up of 8 online courses worth 1 graduate-level credit each. All courses are paced, with scheduled start and end dates and assignment deadlines. Courses are asynchronous, so you never have to be online at a specific time.
You can take the courses in any order, but you must complete all 8 to earn the certificate of completion.
Earn transfer credit
Completing your MMC will give you a head start on other AU programs.
Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management
All 8 MMC courses can transfer to our online Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management (GDLM).
Master of Business Administration
If you want to pursue your Master of Business Administration (MBA), 3 MMC courses may transfer for one 3-credit online elective in our online MBA for executives program. You must meet the entry requirements and be accepted into the MBA to receive this credit.
