The E-Learning Accelerator project team is now in the process of filing the final project report with Alberta Advanced Education. The project more than achieved its goals, enhancing well over the 150 courses originally identified. Beyond a course-based approach, programs and disciplinary areas were enhanced as well. Student Service enhancements made possible by the project will provide learners with improved service, accessibility and generally a more welcoming learning environment.

The project provided AU staff with opportunities to investigate, evaluate and learn about innovations in a way not possible without this funding. As a result, AU can share what it has learned with other institutions. One of the deliverables of the project is a guide for online developers entitled "Developing Multi-Media and Online Enhancements for Post-Secondary Courses, Programs and Services: Developers' Guide"

Many AU staff participated in the project and they should be very proud of the achievements. The report and the guide, along with several other AU publications (Theory and Practice of Online Learning, Anderson & Elloumi[2004]; Defining Online Courses at Athabasca University, L. Ross [2004]; Exploring the Digital Library, Johnson & Magusin [2005] represent significant contributions to the study of online learning. Hopefully, the University itself will benefit from both the process and outcome benefits of the project.
