GEOG 302 has a Challenge for Credit option.
GEOG 302 is designed to provide a “systematic” rather than a “regional” view of Northern Canada. Thus, it begins with a discussion of the term “the North,” and continues with an overview of the natural foundations of the region—its physiography, climate, and biotic characteristics. This discussion is followed by a brief summary of what is known or surmised about the prehistory and historic development of the area, and by an outline of its present-day demography. The remainder of the course concentrates on such human factors as settlement, transportation, economic activity, and political development.
Unit 1: Introduction and Physiographic Regions
Unit 2: Climatic and Biotic Geography
Unit 3: Historical Geography
Unit 4: Population
Unit 5: Transportation and Settlement
Unit 6: Economy A: Renewable Resources
Unit 7: Economy B: Non-renewable Resources
Unit 8: Political Geography and Review
