Graduate Student Research Fund

Application Deadlines

  • Three times per year on February 10th, May 10th and October 10th

Graduate Student Research Fund (GSRF) applications must be reviewed/approved by the Graduate Student Research Fund (GSRF) Committee.

The goal of the Graduate Student Research Fund (GSRF) is to enable students enrolled in graduate programs at Athabasca University to conduct research that:

  1. is of value to the University (that is, relating to the mission of Athabasca University as articulated in the University's mission statement), or
  2. advances disciplinary knowledge.

Funds available for these two categories of research are the Graduate Student Mission Critical Research Fund (GSMCRF) and the Graduate Student Disciplinary Research Fund (GSDRF) respectively.

Funds are also available for dissemination of quality research findings for either mission critical research or disciplinary research.

The specific objectives of GSRF are to:

  • support graduate student research projects that are judged to be of excellence;
  • provide opportunities for the training of future researchers;
  • assist in the communication of research results both within and beyond the academic community;
  • contribute to a research climate of excellence at Athabasca University.

Athabasca University is pleased to announce the continuation of the "Profiling Alberta’s Graduate Students Program" award offered by the Alberta Scholarship Programs, a unit of Alberta Advanced Education and Technology. These funds are intended to support dissemination/presentation opportunities which showcase the high quality of research being conducted by graduate students at Athabasca University.
