Thank you for taking a bit of time to find out about me. At the Athabasca University Library, I am Head, Technical Services and Systems. This means that I am responsible for the cataloging and acquisition activities of the library and managing our electronic library systems and related computers. There are three support staff who work in the Technical Services area. They do a great job of keeping everything going so that materials are available for our patrons. We try our best to have material available for use in a timely manner. I also have regular shifts working at the Library Information Desk. This is really helpful as I learn how people use the library and the kinds of information needs that they have.

I have been at Athabasca University since September, 1992. During this period, there have been many changes in the way that we provide service and what services we provide to our users. It is great to work in a place where I can learn many things and feel that I can contribute to the development of libraries generally. I really enjoy working here as every day is different and brings new and interesting challenges. The library world is in the midst of much change as material becomes available in electronic format as well as print. The increased availability of good resources in electronic form makes for an ever changing world. I'm sure that as changes happen more quickly, the challenges will keep coming.

I've been a librarian for eight years and have worked in public, special, and academic libraries in B.C., Ontario, and Alberta during this time.

In my time away from work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters. Together we enjoy square dancing with our local club. We participate in various activities at our local United Church. I also serve on the board of our local public library and archives. One of my favorite activities is playing my double bass which I don't do as often as I would like.
