Having worked at Athabasca University since 1988 and having held a number of positions within the university, I have a broad experience base with the university.

In my current position, I facilitate external, national and international clients in acquiring the tools they require 'to remove barriers' to learning, training and studying.

My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology, a Masters of Education (Educational Psychology) and a law degree, the latter degrees from the University of Calgary. In addition to these academic credentials, I am also registered as a chartered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

My extensive work experience in post-secondary institutions across Canada includes positions in senior administration, counselling and staff development. In addition, I was a partner in an Alberta law firm, have provided mediation services and also worked in corrections.

On a personal note, I enjoy the time I spend with my family, my grandchildren and volunteering, primarily in the area of mental health policy and advocacy (I am currently National Board Chair/President for the Canadian Mental Health Association). Personal pursuits include travel, rollerblading and long walks with my wife.

Please feel free to contact me by phone, e-mail or fax and allow AU, with its extensive experience in adult, open, distance education, to assist you in meeting your training and/or consulting needs, and thus 'removing barriers to learning, training and studying'.
