In this course, students are expected to

  • select a research topic of personal interest.
  • carry out a literature review covering an appropriate span of time (this varies depending on the topic).
  • identify, compare, and evaluate competing theories and hypotheses related to the topic.
  • construct a valid research program or theoretical argument.
  • identify any gaps or omissions in the current literature which appear to provide opportunities for original commentary or research.
  • write and submit a research paper.
  • compile a comprehensive bibliography on the selected topic as part of the research paper.
