Welcome to Sociology 345/Women's Studies 345: Women and Work in Canada. This three-credit, senior-level course explores the changing nature of the work—paid and unpaid—done by women in Canada. Studying work from both historical and contemporary perspectives allows us to identify accomplishments and setbacks, measure progress, and pinpoint areas where further change is needed. Although this course focuses on women in Canada, increasing world globalization requires that we compare women's work in Canada with that of other countries.

Throughout the course you are encouraged to question the materials studied, to examine your own ideas and experiences, and to develop your own perspectives on the issues under consideration.

Prerequisite: None. Women's Studies 266 is recommended.

Precluded courses: Sociology 312 and Sociology 345.

Note: Sociology 345/Women's Studies 345: Women and Work in Canada is a cross-listed course—a course listed under two different disciplines. The course materials and credit structure are identical. This course may not be taken for credit by students who have obtained credit for Sociology 312 or Sociology 345. Students with credit in Sociology 345 will not receive credit for Women's Studies 345. Students with credit in Women's Studies 345 will not receive credit for Sociology 345.
