Students who approach their studies in a systematic and organized manner are more likely to complete the course successfully than are those who do not. You are advised, therefore, to follow a study schedule to assist you in budgeting your time and scheduling your progress. The schedule provided here covers the course, with the exception of the final examination, in twenty-two weeks, well within the six-month individualized-study course contract.

Be sure to call your tutor if you have difficulty with the material or if you are unable to adhere to the work schedule as suggested. If you fall behind in your course work, contact your tutor immediately. Your tutor will be able to advise you as to what options are available to you. You may, of course, proceed more quickly than is suggested in the study schedule.

Note: Students who are receiving educational funding may be required to complete their studies within a shortened time limit. If you are receiving funding from any source, please check the details of your obligations and adjust your personal study schedule accordingly.

  Complete tutor-marked assignment 1 and send it to your tutor for grading. Remember to attach a tutor-marked exercise form and to keep a copy of your work.
7-8 Complete the study activities for Unit 4 of the Study Guide.

  Complete the exercise at the end of the unit: “Planning Your Research Paper.”
9-10 Complete the study activities for Unit 5 of the Study Guide.

11 Complete the study activities for Unit 6 of the Study Guide.

  Phone or e-mail your tutor to discuss your proposals for your Research Paper topic. You do not need to wait until your tutor has received your submissions of “Planning Your Research Paper” to consult your tutor. You will, however, need to submit these to your tutor in order to receive credit for your Research Paper (tutor-marked assignment 2).
15-16 Complete the study activities for Unit 9 of the Study Guide.

  Begin research and writing for tutor-marked assignment 2.
17-18 Complete the study activities for Unit 10 of the Study Guide.
  Call or e-mail your tutor if you have any questions.
  Continue research and writing for tutor-marked assignment 2.
  Request the final examination. (You must allow at least fifteen business days between requesting the examination and the date you wish to write, remembering that the examination must be written and returned within the course contract period.) See the section “Procedures for Applying for and Writing Examinations” in the Student Manual.
19-20 Complete tutor-marked assignment 2 and mail it to your tutor for grading. Remember to attach a tutor-marked exercise form, and to keep a copy of your work. Make sure that you have sent your completed “Planning Your Research Paper” exercises from units 4-8 to your tutor. This is necessary to receive credit for tutor-marked assignment 2.
21-22 Study for and write the final examination.
