Introduction to Aboriginal Politics and Governments
Learning Objectives
When you have completed Unit 1, you should be able to achieve the following learning objectives.
- Define the key terms that will be used in the Study Guide, and explain the distinctions among the terms “Aboriginal,” “First Nations,” “Métis,” and “Inuit,” and among the terms “sovereignty,” “self-determination,” and “self-government.”
- Comment on the diversity of Aboriginal peoples, nations, and organizations in Canada, as well as on the range of their actions and goals.
