Overview

In this unit, we discuss important topics that are not covered elsewhere in the course and use research studies to illustrate them. The topics considered include alcohol, the effects of caffeine, food allergies, osteoporosis, and nutrition labelling.

Objectives

After completing this unit, you should be able to

1. discuss the effects of alcohol, tea, and coffee on health.
2. discuss the problems of food allergy and food intolerance and describe how they can be treated.
3. discuss the causes of osteoporosis and how it can be prevented.
