Your final grade in Mathematics 270 is based on the grades you achieve in two examinations, each of which is worth 50% of your final grade. You must receive a mark of at least 50% on each examination in order to pass the course. If you receive a grade of less than 50% on an examination, you may write a supplemental examination to improve your grade. There is a fee for supplemental services.

The examinations you write for Mathematics 270 may differ from those you are accustomed to. You will be assessed on the basis of how well you have learned the material, not according to how your performance compares with that of other students. Since the examinations are designed to match the objectives, you will have a clear idea in advance of the areas each will cover. Both examinations in this course are “open book.” You may take your Study Guide, textbook and solution manual into the examination. Calculators and hand-held computers are not allowed while writing examinations. Handwritten notes are not allowed into the examination area, and you are not permitted to copy any of the examination questions and take them out of the examination area.

The examination results will be compiled and returned to you within about two weeks; however, the examination booklet and answer sheets will not be returned to you.
