Objectives

After completing this unit, you should be able to

1. classify a polynomial according to its degree and number of terms.
2. define the concepts “factor” and “term,” and recognize factors and terms in polynomials.
3. perform the four basic arithmetic operations on polynomials: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
4. state the “remainder theorem” and the “factor theorem,” and apply these theorems to polynomial functions.
