Part One: Course Pamphlet
The Project Proposal
Students are urged to choose a project that is limited in scope and direction.
For the proposed project to be eligible for credit in HSRV 477 students
must submit an already completed design for a small project in a field
related to the human services. Once you have narrowed the subject, made
preliminary inquiries seeking cooperation from a host organization or
workplace, worked up your topic, complete a preliminary assessment of
possible research methods and materials, and anticipated any barriers
that might impede your progress or cause the project to get derailed,
you are ready to put together a short preliminary proposal. If you have
a project supervisor in mind who is a tutor or academic employed by Athabasca
University, contact him or her for availability and suggestions. By making
these preliminary arrangements, you will be able to provide an informative
and detailed project proposal to the Program Coordinator. The more developed
the initial proposal is, the more likely that the feedback will be detailed
and helpful.
Note: While Athabasca University offers several project
courses within the Human Services program, only one may be taken at a
time. Upon completion of a research project course such as Project
I, a student is eligible to enrol in another research project course.
See our Calendar for the list of all such courses.
