Part One: Course Pamphlet
The Learning Contract
After the program coordinator accepts the project research proposal,
a Student Manual containing more detailed information about the
course and learning contract is sent to the student. The first part of
the Student Manual contains the same material as this Course Pamphlet.
A Learning Contract is a written arrangement agreed upon and signed
by both the student and project supervisor that states the learning objectives
and activities, time lines, and criteria for evaluating student work.
The learning contract states what is to be done, how it will be done,
how it will be evaluated, and how many credits will be awarded (each independent
study course is worth three credits). It should have clear and attainable
goals, and objectives, making the process and outcome of the project clear,
organised, and visible.
