Course Objectives
When you have completed Health Administration 315, you should be able to
- trace the historical roots of the concept of community development.
- identify the major concepts, assumptions, and principles of community development.
- analyze CD programs or projects implemented in local communities.
- assess the effectiveness of the application of CD concepts and principles in solving social and economic problems in local communities.
- compare CD experiences among communities in Tanzania, Ghana, Bangladesh, Canada, and Chile.
- discuss the principles and goals of “gender in development.”
- discuss critical problems encountered by CD programs or projects implemented in Tanzania, Ghana, Bangladesh, Canada, and Chile.
- describe the roles of an effective CD worker or organizer.
- define the concept of primary health care (PHC).
- identify and discuss conceptual similarities between PHC and CD.
- assess the effectiveness of PHC programs or projects in addressing PHC needs of the local people.
- describe the role of an effective PHC educator/organizer.
