German 202: Introductory German I will help you develop the necessary skills to acquire a basic knowledge of the language and be able to communicate in German by the end of this course. The textbook Wie geht’s? and accompanying CD, the workbook/lab manual, lab program and video component are designed to achieve the following course objectives.

  1. Writing: You will learn how to express yourself using simple German sentences.
  2. Reading: After studying the Wie geht’s? texts and learning the necessary vocabulary, you will be able to understand texts at a similar level of difficulty.
  3. Speaking: You will be able to communicate in German using simple sentences modeled on the dialogues and lab exercises.
  4. Listening Comprehension: You will be able to understand the German of everyday situations spoken at moderate speed. The lab program and pronunciation sections of the lab manual will enhance your listening skills.
