The North Atlantic Drift

The coast of Labrador and Glasgow, Scotland, though located at the same latitude, have very different climates. In this case oceanic circulation has a great influence as the North Atlantic Drift, which is a continuation of the Gulf Stream, carries warm water northward from the Gulf of Mexico and warms the coast of western Europe, while the Labrador current brings with its ice-laden waters and cool temperatures to Canada’s far eastern shores.
