In this unit, we review the long and convoluted experience of citizens in Hamilton, Ontario, who were concerned about the potential impacts of a proposed expressway project. This case study illustrates practical experience with a variety of EA processes.

  2. evaluate the effectiveness of various environmental assessment procedures in addressing a major expressway project in Ontario.
  3. explain the value of environmental assessment theory, and discuss the practical aspects of its implementation.
