Week 1 Read the entire Student Manual and the Workshop Option (requested from your tutor).
  Work through Unit 1 of the Study Guide, up to the second Reading Assignment.
Week 2 Complete Study Guide Unit 1. Consider if you wish to choose the Workshop Option to count for Assignment 4.
Week 3 Complete Assignment 1: The Sketch. Submit it to your tutor with a Tutor-marked Exercise Form.
Week 4 Complete the Reading Assignment and Study Questions for the “Setting” section of Unit 2 of the Study Guide.
Week 5 Complete Study Guide Unit 2.
Week 6 Complete Assignment 2: Short Story on Character.
  Submit Assignment 2 to your tutor with a Tutor-marked Exercise Form. If you have decided to participate in the Workshop Option, consider if you wish to post this story to the Workshop Discussion Board. Be sure to fulfill your peer-editing responsibilities. 
Week 7 Complete the Reading Assignment and Study Questions for the “Plot” section of Unit 3 of the Study Guide.
Week 8 Complete Study Guide Unit 3.
Week 9 Complete Assignment 3: Short Story on Action.
  Submit Assignment 3 to your tutor with a Tutor-marked Exercise Form. If you have decided to participate in the Workshop Option and did not post Assignment 2 to the Workshop Discussion Board, post Assignment 3 to that board and fulfill your peer-editing responsibilities.
Week 10 Complete Study Guide Unit 4.
Week 11 Complete Study Guide Unit 5.
Week 12 Complete Study Guide Unit 6.
Week 13 Complete Assignment 4: A Substantial Revision of Assignment 2 or 3, or a Short Story Combining Character and Action. Do not complete Assignment 4 if you are doing the Workshop Option. If you are participating in the Workshop, be sure to fulfill your peer-editing responsibilities.
  Submit Assignment 4 to your tutor with a Tutor-marked Exercise Form.
Week 14 Begin Assignment 5: A Chapter of a Novel or Novella.
  Contact your tutor with questions or to submit a draft outline for feedback.
  Complete the first two Reading Assignments of Unit 7, read the commentary and complete the accompanying Study Questions.
Week 15 Complete Study Guide Unit 7.
Week 16 Complete a first draft of Assignment 5: A Chapter of a Novel or Novella.
Week 17 Revise and edit Assignment 5.
  Submit Assignment 5 to your tutor with a Tutor-marked Exercise Form. If you are doing the Workshop Option, post Assignment 5 to the Workshop Discussion Board.
  Be sure you have fulfilled your peer-editing responsibilities if you are doing the Workshop Option.
Week 18 If you are doing the Workshop Option, be sure you have sent your tutor one paragraph commenting on how you have used or will use peer feedback on your first posted assignment (Assignment 2 or Assignment 3).
Week 19 If you are doing the Workshop Option, be sure you have sent your tutor one paragraph commenting on how you have used or will use peer feedback on your second posted assignment (Assignment 5).
Week 20 Congratulations on completing the course!
